NBA roundup: Miami Heat, New York Knicks claim victories

Sports Mole takes a look at the action from Sunday's games in the NBA.

The Miami Heat eased to a 113-101 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday in a repeat of last season's NBA Finals.

Chris Bosh missed only one shot on his way to 24 points as the Heat pulled away from their opponents thanks to a strong third-quarter display at the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Carmelo Anthony followed his 62-point display on Friday night by leading the New York Knicks past the Los Angeles Lakers at Madison Square Garden.

The All-Star scored 35 points and received good support from Raymond Felton, who had a season-high 20 points, in a 110-103 success.

A dominant display from Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans secured the hosts a 100-92 triumph over the Orlando Magic at the New Orleans Arena.

Davis recorded impressive figures of 22 points and 19 rebounds as the Pelicans defended their lead impressively in the final quarter for their 10th home win of the season.

Markieff Morris posted 27 points and 15 rebounds in a 99-90 victory for the Phoenix Suns over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Suns were 18 points behind their opponents at the break, but produced a strong fightback and managed to restrict the Cavaliers to just six points in the third quarter on their way to the win.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett achieved success on their first return to the TD Garden as Brooklyn Nets players since leaving the Boston Celtics in the summer.

Garnett stole the ball from his former teammate Rajon Rondo in the closing stages to score a lay-up to stretch Brooklyn's lead to five before helping the visitors earn an 85-79 success.

Dirk Nowitzki starred for the Dallas Mavericks as they beat the Detroit Pistons 116-106 to condemn their opponents to a fourth straight defeat.

The veteran scored 28 points and added nine rebounds after missing the loss to the Toronto Raptors with a knee injury.

All-Star starter Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to an emphatic victory over the Portland Trail Blazers at the Oracle Arena.

Curry contributed 38 points, seven rebounds and eight assists as the Warriors produced a strong defensive display to claim a 103-88 win.

The Denver Nuggets followed a surprise success over the Indiana Pacers by beating the Sacramento Kings 125-117 at the Sleep Train Arena.

Ty Lawson and Wilson Chandler combined for 47 points as the Nuggets recorded a win on the road despite a late rally from the Kings.
