Gregg Popovich slams San Antonio Spurs defense

Gregg Popovich believes that the San Antonio Spurs lost to the Detroit Pistons because of their poor defensive performance.

The San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has blamed his side's defensive performance for their defeat to the Detroit Pistons in the NBA on Monday.

Marco Belinelli scored 20 points for the Spurs, but that did not prove enough for the Texan outfit as they went down 109-100 at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit.

"We lost the game because we probably played the worst defense we've played all season, especially in the first half," The AP quotes the 65-year-old as saying.

"We didn't bring it mentally or physically, and the Pistons did."

The Spurs are currently second in the Western Conference.
