Custio Clayton pleased with victory

Canada's Custio Clayton says that he had to become the aggressor in order to book his place in the last eight of the welterweight tournament at the expense of Australia's Cameron Hammond.

Custio Clayton has said that he was forced to adapt his tactics in order to defeat Australian welterweight Cameron Hammond.

The Canadian overcame his opponent 14-11 following a final round in which he was forced to become the aggressor.

"I saw he wasn't going to pick it up, so I figured I had to do it," Clayton said. "I just had to move my head more, be more aggressive.

"I couldn't ask for anything better. The first couple of rounds were slow, but I picked it up. It feels great to be here."

Clayton will face Team GB's Freddie Evans in the next round.
