Manchester United chiefs reportedly still have full confidence in head coach Ruben Amorim despite the Portuguese's early struggles at Old Trafford.

Manchester United chiefs reportedly still have full confidence in head coach Ruben Amorim despite the Portuguese making a difficult start to his tenure at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag was sacked by the 20-time English champions at the end of October due to the team's struggles, but Amorim has been unable to oversee a change of fortunes, with the Red Devils in worrying form.

Under Amorim, Man United have picked up just seven league points from a possible 24, losing five of their eight matches, including their last three against Bournemouth, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United.

The Red Devils have been beaten in their last four fixtures in all competitions, meanwhile, with their last success coming in the Manchester derby in the Premier League in the middle of December.

In December, Man United last six matches in a single month for just the third time in their history, while 18 goals conceded was their most in a single month since March 1964.

However, according to Fichajes, Amorim still has the full support of the decision-makers at Old Trafford, with club chiefs certain that the Portuguese can turn the situation around.

Man United 'have full faith in Amorim'

Man United are down in 14th spot in the Premier League table, only seven points clear of the bottom three, while they are 13 points off the top four in England's top flight.

On Sunday against Liverpool, Man United will look to avoid losing four league games in a row in the same season for the first time since 1979, while they are aiming to avoid suffering four losses in a row without scoring for the first time since 1909.

Speaking after the defeat to Newcastle, Amorim said that he could be sacked if results do not improve.

"The manager of Manchester United can never, no matter what, be comfortable. I know the business that I am in. I know that if we do not win – regardless if they paid the buyout or not – I know that every manager is in danger and I like that, because that is our job," Amorim told reporters.

"So I understand the question. You can say that I have been here a month and I have had four training [sessions], but we are not winning. So I have that; that is a reality, and I am quite comfortable with that."

What is to come for Man United during a busy January?

After visiting Liverpool, Man United will head to Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup on January 12, before facing Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion in back-to-back Premier League matches.

The Red Devils then have a glamorous Europa League clash against Rangers at Old Trafford on January 23, before heading to Fulham in the league and FCSB in Europe in the closing stages of the month.

Man United will attempt to boost their squad during the January transfer window, with Amorim revealing during his press conference on Friday that the Red Devils are hopeful of making at least one addition.
