Joe Joyce hails "great feeling"

Team England boxer Joe Joyce says that it was "a great feeling" to win gold at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

Team England boxer Joe Joyce has said that it was "a great feeling" to win gold at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday evening.

Joyce beat Joseph Goodall in the final of the men's super-heavyweight division in front of around 11,000 spectators in Glasgow.

"It is a great feeling," he told Sports Mole.

"It is the biggest crowd I have fought in front of and to claim the gold medal in such a great multi-sport games has been a great experience. I am just over the moon."

Joyce also admitted that it was frustrating not to fight in the semi-finals of the competition this summer, with Mike Sekabembe failing a medical before their last-four clash.

"You get fired up and geared up for a bout and when it's gone, it is difficult. It is always better to have more bouts, it helps with progression and also I don't get tired!" Joyce added.

Joyce's success made it five gold medals in the boxing for England in Glasgow.
