Yafai 'feeling good' for Commonwealth gold
Team England boxer Galal Yafai tells Sports Mole that he is feeling confident after beginning his quest for Commonwealth gold with a comfortable round-of-16 victory.

Team England boxer Galal Yafai has said that he is feeling good after beginning his quest for a Commonwealth Games gold medal with victory over Cameroon's Simplice Fotsala.

Yafai cruised into the quarter-finals of the 46-49kg competition with a dominant triumph over Fotsala, whom he also beat at the Olympic Games in 2016.

The 25-year-old admitted that he needs to improve his concentration at times, but is confident that he can go all the way and claim the top prize on the Gold Coast.

"It went to plan. I fought him before and I beat him, so I was confident I would beat him again and I did just that. It was good to fight in front of the Australian crowd, something different, so yeah, I enjoyed it," he told Sports Mole.

"I think I beat him more comfortably this time. Rio I think I wasn't as experienced as I am now, I've had double the amount of fights so I'm more experienced now and I think I'm a better fighter. I feel good, a bit better now I've got the first one out the way - a few cobwebs, I've got rid of them and I should be better.

"Maybe I lose my concentration sometimes but I'll be more on it [next] time. I've had the experience of getting in the ring, going through the warm-up and so I'll be better. No pressure. It's fun for me. It's a fun job!"

Yafai will now face Sharvin Kumar Beedassee of Mauritius in the quarter-finals.
