England's Pat McCormack has been crowned Commonwealth Games champion courtesy of a unanimous decision over Northern Ireland's Aidan Walsh in the men's 69kg final this evening.
McCormack was among the favourites for gold heading into the tournament, and he showed why with a knockout and two unanimous victories on his way to the final.
The 22-year-old - whose twin brother Luke McCormack was forced to settle for bronze in the 64kg category - continued that good form in the final, with all five judges once again ruling him the winner.
Walsh was deemed to have won the final round by three of the judges, but all of them agreed that McCormack had won the opening two rounds, meaning that only a stoppage would have done for Walsh.
Like McCormack, Walsh also had sibling interest at the Games, but sister Michaela was beaten by hometown favourite Skye Nicolson in her final to be condemned to silver in controversial fashion.
The bronze medals in the men's 69kg division went to India's Manoj Kumar and Fiji's Winston Hill.
