Saul Alvarez admits he could not get near Floyd Mayweather

Saul Alvarez admits that he could not get near Floyd Mayweather following his loss to the unbeaten 'Money' in Las Vegas.

Saul Alvarez has admitted that Floyd Mayweather Jnr was too good for him following his opponent's majority points victory in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Mayweather claimed the win with a 114-114, 116-112, 117-111 score, with controversial judge CJ Ross scoring the fight as a draw.

The unbeaten 'Money' extended his record to 45-0-0 with the win against the 23-year-old, and 'Canelo' said that he just could not get near Mayweather.

"We tried but we could just not catch him, he was too elusive," Alvarez told reporters after the fight.

"We did not know how to get him [inside the ring], it is as simple as that. He's a great fighter and I could not catch him.

"The frustration was getting to me in there and he's a great fighter. What else can I say?"

The defeat was the first professional loss of the Mexican's career.
