Nathan Cleverly has said that he enjoyed his American debut and is ready for more big fights across the pond.

Cleverly stopped Shawn Hawk in eight rounds last night to defend his light-heavyweight world title.

"I came to America and the unknown," said the 25-year-old. "I had a late replacement opponent which can be dangerous but the writing was on the wall early on.

"I felt unstoppable in there."

The WBO champion was also pleased with the reaction from the American crowd.

He continued: "I've got some good exposure on American TV and I think the crowd enjoyed the fight.

"They booed me as I went in but some people gave me a standing ovation as I left the ring, which shows my exciting style can win people over.

"It's an exciting time for me. This proves I'm ready for the states, I just hope their best fighters are ready for me."

Cleverly will be targeting a unification bout next year, but must first face mandatory challenger Robin Krasniqi, probably in Germany, in February.
