Oscar De La Hoya tips Saul Alvarez to knock out Floyd Mayweather Jnr

Oscar De La Hoya tips Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to stop Floyd Mayweather Jnr inside eight rounds when they clash on September 14.

Oscar De La Hoya has claimed that Saul Alvarez will knock Floyd Mayweather Jnr out inside eight rounds when the pair square off on September 14.

The red-haired Mexican will face the unbeaten Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and while the latter heads into the fight as the favourite among many, De La Hoya is tipping 'Canelo' for victory.

"If he doesn't knock Floyd out in less than eight rounds, I will be very surprised," De La Hoya is quoted as saying on BoxingNews.com.

"Canelo is experiencing the glory and ahead of his time. I will tell him to stay focused, and keep pumping your jab. That is the key.

"Canelo is so calm and mature. Nothing gets to him. He is focused. Mayweather got the decision [against me], but I feel I beat him. You have the guy with the torch and the guy who is going to get the torch, and everybody knows it."

Both Alvarez and Mayweather were victorious in their last fights over Austin Trout and Robert Guerrero respectively.
