Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has seen three players withdraw from his squad due to injury ahead of Thursday's UEFA Nations League quarter-final first-leg clash with Netherlands at De Kuip in Rotterdam.
Barcelona duo Inigo Martinez and Marc Casado sustained knee injuries in last weekend's 4-2 La Liga win over Atletico Madrid, while Osasuna loanee Bryan Zaragoza is nursing "discomfort in his right thigh".
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Aleix Garcia and uncapped Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen have been called up as a result. Real Madrid centre-back Raul Asencio has also received his first call-up and, along with Huijsen, is in contention to make his debut.
However, Pau Cubarsi and Robin Le Normand are both expected to start at centre-back, with Pedro Porro and Marc Cucurella the most likely pair to begin at right-back and left-back respectively.
Martin Zubimendi is set to fill the void left by injured Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, with Pedri, Fabian Ruiz, Alex Baena and Arsenal's makeshift striker Mikel Merino all set to battle for starts in midfield.
At the age of just 17, Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal is poised to earn his 18th senior cap for Spain on the right wing and could be joined in a three-man attack by captain Alvaro Morata and Nico Williams, while Mikel Oyarzabal, Ferran Torres, Yeremy Pino and Samu Aghehowa are among the other attacking options at De la Fuente's disposal.
Spain possible starting lineup: Simon; Porro, Cubarsi, Le Normand, Cucurella; Ruiz, Zubimendi, Pedri; Yamal, Morata, N. Williams
