James DeGale has turned down a super-middleweight title fight against world champion Robert Stieglitz.
The Olympic gold medal winner instead opted to defend his European title against Italy's Cristian Sanavia, The Sun reports.
DeGale was offered the Stieglitz contest after George Groves was forced to pull out of the fight with an unspecified injury.
The 26-year-old, who lost narrowly to Groves on points almost a year ago, was considered a viable replacement for his bitter rival.
DeGale will take on Sanavia in Denmark on Saturday.
