Eddie Hearn confirms cancellation of Dillian Whyte, Otto Wallin fight

Promoter Eddie Hearn confirms that Dillian Whyte has withdrawn from his October 30 bout with Otto Wallin due to a shoulder injury.

Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Dillian Whyte will no longer fight Otto Wallin on October 30.

Whyte had been scheduled to defend his WBC interim heavyweight title at the O2 Arena, a win keeping him in line to fight WBC champion Tyson Fury in 2022.

However, reports emerged on Wednesday which suggested that Whyte had sustained a shoulder injury during the final days of his training camp in Portugal.

Hearn has since revealed on Twitter that Whyte had been advised to withdraw from his scheduled bout after an MRI scan and further medical advice.

As it stands, it remains unclear whether Whyte will be willing to reschedule the clash with Wallin, but it theoretically makes sense for the British fighter to now wait for his opportunity against Fury.

The WBC are expected to call for mandatory challenger Whyte to face Fury in the coming months, providing that Whyte is not likely to spend a significant period on the sidelines.
