Promoter Eddie Hearn has claimed that progress has been made in an attempt to set up a bout between Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in 2015.
Froch has not defended his IBF super middleweight title since beating George Groves at Wembley in May, and has hinted that he will retire if he does not get the opportunity to fight in Las Vegas.
Chavez Jr, who has lost just one of his 51 professional bouts, was singled out as a potential opponent by Froch earlier this year, and talks have been positive between the two parties.
"Hopefully we get Froch-Chavez Jr made," Hearn told Sky Sports News. "Out there I'm trying to tie things up. We are looking at the end of March potentially for that date. It's a great fight – Carl gets his Vegas fight."
Chavez Jr's most recent fight was a unanimous points decision triumph over Brian Vera.
