Eddie Hearn urges Amir Khan to agree to Kell Brook bout

Eddie Hearn believes that Amir Khan should put off plans to meet Floyd Mayweather Jr and agree to fight Kell Brook in 2015.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has urged Amir Khan to forget about meeting Floyd Mayweather Jr in favour of facing British rival Kell Brook next year.

Khan is looking to improve his chances of fighting Mayweather when he takes on Devon Alexander in Las Vegas this summer, but Hearn believes that a bout with his client, IBF welterweight champion Brook, makes more sense.

"I just don't see Floyd Mayweather fighting Amir Khan when it is a tough fight for Mayweather stylistically," Hearn told The Mirror. "I just can't see it and if that's the case, Amir Khan is left with a fight with Kell Brook.

"The only problem is agreeing the purse split. Kell Brook is a world champion, Amir Khan is the bigger name, so I think 50-50 is right. But Amir Khan doesn't agree that it's a 50-50 split.

"It would make him more money than fighting Mayweather."

Brook is expected to meet either Kevin Bizier or Ionut Dan Ion in March.
