David Price withdraws from Liverpool bill

British heavyweight David Price withdraws from his appearance at Liverpool's Echo Arena on June 26 because of a neck injury.

British heavyweight David Price has been forced to withdraw from his next fight because of a neck injury.

Price had been due to make his first appearance in Liverpool for almost two years at the Echo Arena on June 26, but a neck problem has resulted in the Merseyside puncher being sidelined until later in the summer.

The 31-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I had been looking forward to returning home at the very top of my game and fighting in front of my home fans once again, but unfortunately that will have to wait.

"My neck muscle needs resting and that has disrupted my preparations and made it impossible for me to be at full fitness for June 26."

Price could return in a European title bout with Erkan Teper, who is unbeaten in 14 fights.
