Unbeaten American Ryan Coyne is confirmed as the new opponent for Nathan Cleverly's light-heavyweight title defence in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 10.

Nathan Cleverly will face unbeaten American Ryan Coyne in his rescheduled world title defence in Los Angeles on November 10.

The Welshman will fight on the undercard of a fight between Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz at the Staples Centre, after cancelling his October defence against Vyacheslav Uzelkov.

Cleverly told The Sun that he believes the chance to gain exposure across the pond makes the fight against Coyne worth the risk.

He said: "It's a high-risk strategy to go over there and put my unbeaten record and title on the line, but I want to make a big statement that I'm here and ready for the best.

"America is the market every fighter wants to crack and this is a really exciting and challenging opportunity for me.

"From what I've seen of Coyne he looks strong, comes forward and likes to have a fight.

"I'm not afraid to stand and trade so it will be exciting for the fans when we exchange punches."

Cleverly wants to attract a US audience to secure a super-fight against either Bernard Hopkins or Chad Dawson in 2013.
