Northern Ireland boxer Steven Donnelly has admitted that he needed to be at his best to overcome Canadian Custio Clayton in the quarter-finals of the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday.
Donnelly, who has now secured at least a bronze medal in the welterweight division, said that Clayton was the favourite entering the match.
"I knew going into the bout that it was my final, he was the favourite. He is definitely up there with the best in the world, but I know I am up there as well," he told reporters.
"It is just doing it on the big stage and proving to everyone that my talent is better than anyone in the world."
Donnelly will face Mandeep Jangra in the semi-finals on Friday.
