Anastasiia Beliakova scoops another boxing gold for Russian Federation

Russian Federation's Anastasiia Beliakova earns European Games gold in the women's light welterweight division by beating Valentina Alberti on points in Baku.

Russian Federation have won a fourth boxing gold medal of the inaugural European Games, courtesy of Anastasiia Beliakova's victory over Valentina Alberti in the women's light welterweight final.

Moments after compatriot Elena Savelyeva had beaten Marzia Davide to claim bantamweight success, Beliakova secured a unanimous points win over an Italian opponent of her own.

The 22-year-old, who edged out Great Britain's Sandy Ryan in the semi-finals earlier this week, prevailed in each round at Crystal Hall to further extend Russia's lead at the top of the overall medals tally.

Ryan was forced to settle for bronze after her last-four defeat against the eventual champion, while Aneta Rygielska was also among the medals for Poland.
