French boxer Tony Yoka targets Olympic medal

French super-heavyweight boxer Tony Yoka admits that he is hoping to win a medal at the Rio Olympics after securing bronze in the European Games.

French boxer Tony Yoka has admitted that he will be aiming for a medal at next year's Olympics after missing out on a spot in the final at the European Games in Baku.

The super heavyweight was beaten by Team GB's Joe Joyce, leaving him to take a bronze medal home.

The 23-year-old told reporters: "It was a strong fight and I wasn't thinking about the victory. In one year I will prepare for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and I am looking to take medals there.

"I was keeping long distance in the first round and lost and that's the reason why I changed my tactics in the following rounds. If I meet him again I will use more physical power and have more feeling on the ring."

Yoka won gold at the Youth Olympics in 2010.
