Bournemouth confirm key striker Evanilson has undergone surgery after suffering a broken foot in Saturday's Premier League win over Everton.

Bournemouth have revealed that striker Evanilson has undergone surgery on a broken foot.

The Brazil international picked up the injury in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Everton at the Vitality Stadium.

Evanilson was replaced in the 82nd minute by Philip Billing after complaining of some discomfort in the narrow victory.

Bournemouth have now released a statement to confirm that Evanilson has undergone surgery after medical tests revealed that he had sustained a broken foot.

Evanilson set for spell on sidelines

Bournemouth said: "We can confirm Evanilson has undergone a successful procedure to repair a fractured metatarsal sustained during Saturday's 1-0 win over Everton."

Evanilson has been a regular fixture in Andoni Iraola's side since completing a €47m (£40.3m) move from Porto last summer.

The 25-year-old has started 17 of his 19 Premier League appearances, scoring five goals to help Bournemouth in their European qualification bid.

The club went on to add: "The club's medical staff will now provide Evanilson with their full support through the rehabilitation process, ensuring he has the best possible recovery.

"Everybody at AFC Bournemouth sends their best wishes to Eva, and we hope to see him return to the field soon."

Who will replace the injured Evanilson?

Evanilson's injury leaves Iraola with Turkey international Enes Unal as his only natural number nine for the foreseeable future.

The former Getafe forward has had to settle for a bench role for the majority of the season, having started just two of his 17 Premier League appearances.

Unal could now be given a run in the Bournemouth starting lineup, or Iraola may look to use one of his other attackers in the number nine position.

Antoine Semenyo, who usually plays on the flanks, has previous experience playing through the middle and could be an alternative option if Iraola decides against using Unal as his main striker.

Bournemouth will be in action on Saturday when they play host to Championship side West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup third round.
