Great Britain's Joshua Buatsi is forced to settle for Olympic bronze after losing to Kazakhstan's Adilbek Niyazymbetov.

British light-heavyweight Joshua Buatsi has suffered defeat in his semi-final clash to Adilbek Niyazymbetov at the Olympic Games.

Buatsi has produced the stand-out performances of the British team since their arrival in Rio de Janeiro but he was forced to settle for bronze after losing out to the Kazakh fighter.

The 23-year-old started well but in a technical bout which involved both fighters remaining patient, Niyazymbetov made Buatsi miss and connected with some of his own shots on the counter.

It was much of the same in round two as Niyazymbetov moved two rounds to the good and although Buatsi rallied in the third, it was not enough to earn the necessary 10-8 round, which left Niyazymbetov running out a 29-28 winner.

On Team GB's most successful day in the ring so far, Nicola Adams and Joe Joyce guaranteed at least a bronze medal in their respective weight categories.
