Rod Marsh tips Fawad Ahmed for Ashes success

Australia selector Rod Marsh backs uncapped leg spinner Fawad Ahmed to cause trouble for England in The Ashes this summer.

Leg spinner Fawad Ahmed has all the credentials to be successful in The Ashes this summer, according to Australian national selector Rod Marsh.

Ahmed was named in the Aussies' 17-man squad to tour England, and Marsh believes that he could be effective against their left-handed batsmen.

He told reporters: "[Ahmed] doesn't bowl too much rubbish and he creates a lot of pressure. He has men around the bat in most instances and he keeps asking the batsmen questions, which is what good spinners do.

"He maintains good economy and asks questions of both left and right-handers, bearing in mind that England may have up to seven left-handers."

Ahmed could make his Test match debut against the West Indies in June.
