Australia captain Michael Clarke has stepped down as a selector just three weeks before the start of the Ashes series with England.
The incident comes in the wake of Mickey Arthur's sacking as the Aussies' coach by Cricket Australia, which is expected to be announced in Bristol later on Monday.
Now Clarke has relinquished his role in the selection process which is thought to be down to part of the coaching restructure, according to Fairfax Media.
The 32-year-old is rumoured to be leading one side of a divide in the camp between himself and Shane Watson.
It is unclear as to whether the new coach, widely expected to be Darren Lehmann, will retain a selection role.
