Michael Beer: 'Sledging part of Australian cricket'

Michael Beer says that sledging is part of Australian cricket and makes matches more competitive.

Michael Beer has said that sledging is part of Australian cricket.

The first Ashes Test match between the Aussies and England in Brisbane was marred by sledging from both sides.

"My view is what goes on out there stays out there," Sky Sports News quotes the 29-year-old Australian as saying.

"I think it's a competitive nature and you try and do what you do to put someone off their game.

"Whether it's playing club cricket or Test cricket, things are always said and we know in Australia people say stuff and that's the way we play cricket. It's aggressive and that's the way we go about it. I think what goes on stays on."

The second Test gets underway in Adelaide next Thursday.
