Michael Clarke has said that his lack of form with the bat has left Australia "playing with 10 players" in the Ashes series against England.
The tourists' captain, who has a career average of 49.73, has scored just 94 runs in his six innings in the first three Tests of the series.
The 34-year-old told BBC Sport: "We've been playing with 10 players and the captain's got to come off the plane and contribute.
"England deserve credit. They've bowled well and found a way to get me out early in my innings. My record at five is better than at four, but it's about what is best for the team.
"I can't put my finger on it. It's always about my preparation. If I do the hard work, that gives me the self-belief."
England won the third match by eight wickets, giving them a 2-1 lead in the five-Test series.
