Shane Watson fit to bowl in Brisbane

Australia all-rounder Shane Watson declares himself fit to bowl in the first Ashes Test in Brisbane after overcoming a hamstring injury.

Australia's Shane Watson has declared himself fit to bowl in the first Ashes Test in Brisbane later this week.

The 32-year-old all-rounder claims that he will be able to fulfil full batting and bowling duties after recovering from his recent hamstring injury.

Watson's confirmed fitness is likely to mean that James Faulkner misses out at the Gabba, with the hosts expected to name Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle and Ryan Harris as their three out-and-out fast bowlers.

Queensland-born Watson has taken 44 Test wickets during 69 innings.
