Peter Siddle: 'Australia consistency was vital'

Peter Siddle says that consistency was the key for Australia to win back The Ashes from England.

Peter Siddle believes that Australia's consistency was a key factor in helping them beat England and regain The Ashes on home turf.

The hosts comfortably dictated the first and second Tests before clinching victory by 150 runs in the third meeting in Perth on Tuesday to end a run of three-straight defeats when competing for the urn.

"It's been about consistency - everyone has stood up at different stages," Siddle said on TMS. "It's been a long time coming getting that urn back and we are really proud.

"I had lost three series before this and the way we have played in this one has been outstanding. It's something I have grown up dreaming about. To finally be a part of it is outstanding. It's going to be good fun."

The win ends Australia's run of 1,577 days without the urn, following England's victory in August 2009.
