Australia, Bangladesh World Cup match abandoned

Australia's World Cup match with Bangladesh is abandoned after heavy rain caused by Cyclone Marcia.

Australia's World Cup match with Bangladesh has been abandoned due to heavy rain caused by Cyclone Marcia.

Officials delayed the match earlier in the day but the match failed to get underway, with the covers never leaving the pitch at The Gabba.

As a result of the abandonment, both sides will receive a point, which fails to separate them in the standings of Pool A.

Both teams won their opening matches of the competition last weekend, with the Baggy Greens beating England at the MCG and Mushfiqur Rahim's side overcoming Afghanistan, leaving them both with three points.
