Australia and Sri Lanka met at The Oval on Monday as both sides looked for a result that would earn them a spot in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy.
Sri Lanka batted first on a difficult pitch and were able to post 253-8 from their 50 overs, thanks mainly to Mahela Jayawardene's unbeaten 84 from 81 balls.
Australia knew that they would need to reach the target in 29.1 overs to qualify for the semi-finals but wickets regularly fell as Angelo Mathews's side took control of the contest.
The final wicket partnership of Clint McKay (30) and Xavier Doherty (15*) frustrated Sri Lanka but Tillakaratne Dilshan removed the former in the 44th over to secure a 20-run victory and confirm his side's place in the semi-finals.

Bailey admitted that it would be easier for Australia to work out their net run-rate by bowling first. He knows his side need a big performance today and realistically they'll have to dismiss Sri Lanka pretty cheaply.
Angelo Mathews insists he would have chosen to bat had he won the toss. Sri Lanka head into this game full of confidence following that brilliant run-chase against England and they're surely favourites.
Brendon McCullum and his New Zealand teammates will be watching on nervously as they hope for a tight Australian win to secure them a place in the semi-finals. England will top the group unless Sri Lanka win relatively easily.
It's simple for Australia early on at The Oval. They must take early wickets to cause the Sri Lanka's batting order to panic. All of their bowlers must step up today to give themselves a fighting chance of reaching the semi-finals.
Both sides are out in the middle now for the national anthems. We've got a fascinating game ahead of us today at The Oval.
There's good Sri Lankan support inside the ground today but Australia are being represented pretty well too. The first 15 overs of this match will be very important.
Kushal Perera opens the batting alongside Tillakaratne Dilshan. It will be Mitchell Johnson who bowls the first over of this match. Michael Clarke looks on from the balcony, can his team do the seemingly impossible without him?
Perera starts confidently as he cuts a short ball over point for four runs at the start of the over. We see the bad side of Johnson again when he strays onto the pads and concedes four leg-byes.
WICKET! PERERA (4) LBW B JOHNSON
Amazing start to this match! Johnson follows two awful deliveries with one that hits a shuffling Perera on the pad. The umpires takes an age to raise his finger but eventually gives the batsman out. Perera decides against reviewing the decision and heads back inside.
Sangakkara comes to the crease with his side under pressure already. The left-handed batsman gets off the mark with a single on the leg-side. Nine runs and a wicket from the first over.
Clint McKay begins the second over by delivering a wide down the leg-side. The seamer responds by sending one across the bat, with Sangakkara wisely pulling his bat away. Sangakkara does well to get a thick edge on a delivery that nips back slightly to pick up a single. Dilshan, facing only his second ball, takes advantage of some width to drill four through the covers. The opener splits the two fielders close to point to pick up three more and he'll keep the strike.
Dilshan prods the ball into the off-side to rush through a quick single at the start of a new over. Sangakkara is surprised by some extra bounce from Johnson, who is bowling at good pace at the moment. Xavier Doherty misses the stumps from mid-on and replays show that Sangakkara would have been out by at least a yard.

Australia take a huge wicket as Sangakkara departs for just three. Sri Lanka's number three attacks a fuller delivery but can only slice the ball into the air and Maxwell takes the catch at point. Brilliant start for Australia.
It's Lahiru Thirimanne, rather than Mahela Jayawardene, who comes in at four. The new batsman is forced to defend a good yorker from McKay as soon as he arrives at the crease. No freedom for Thirimanne as McKay completes a wicket maiden.
Johnson is causing problems now as he beats Dilshan's edge early in the over. The opening batsman plays an expansive drive a ball later but makes no contact to encourage a few words from the slips. A straighter delivery is nudged behind square on the leg-side for a single. Johnson's pace does him no favours when a bouncer explodes off the pitch and beats Matthew Wade on its way to the rope for four byes. Thirimanne gets off the mark with a single to fine-leg and he'll keep the strike.
McKay continues to invite the drive with a full length outside off-stump but there's no success early in the over. A flick off the hip brings Sri Lanka two runs through square-leg. Thirimanne picks out the fielders with a couple of drives and it's another good over for McKay.
Dilshan has little control over a drive outside off-stump but he still collects a run to third-man. Johnson delivers a beauty that beats the bat with a hint of swing. Thirimanne opens the face to guide a single to third-man. Good pace and impressive accuracy from Johnson in the over.
McKay continues and the first ball of his fourth over is clipped to fine-leg by Thirimanne for a single. Dilshan nudges the ball through square-leg to pick up three runs. McKay then finds a tight line just outside off-stump to force Thirimanne to defend for the remainder of the over.
James Faulkner comes into the attack and Dilshan looks to assert his dominance at the start of the over with a pull shot but his timing is poor. A nudge through mid-wicket allows Dilshan to hand the strike to his partner. Thirimanne clips the ball off his hip and a good piece of running brings another run. Dilshan flirts with the final ball of the over but doesn't get an edge on it. Great start for Faulkner.
Shane Watson is thrown the ball to begin his first spell of the match. Thirimanne drives straight to the fielder at point before slicing the next delivery to third-man for a single. Dilshan picks the gap perfectly on the leg-side and runs well to add two more to the total. A single from the final ball allows the opener to steal the strike. That's the end of the first powerplay. Good start from Australia but they can't allow this partnership to grow for too much longer.
Faulkner is too short early in a new over but Dilshan can only pick up a single to the fielder in the deep on the leg-side. Thirimanne shuffles across the crease before punching the ball past mid-on to collect four. The same batsman reaches the rope again but this time he's slightly more fortunate as an outside edge races through third-man and to the boundary.
Dilshan uses Watson's extra bounce to nudge a single to fine-leg. Thirimanne rotates the strike again when he pushes a run into the leg-side. Another single is taken through square-leg before Watson ends the over with a quick bouncer.
Faulkner finds a brilliant length to Dilshan, who is agonisingly close to edging the ball to Wade. Voges makes a good block at cover but he can't prevent Sri Lanka from hurrying a single. Thirimanne nudges the ball behind square on the leg-side for another run and Dilshan rotates the strike again with one to square-leg.
Asutralia are continuing to bowl economically but it's wickets they need at this stage. They'll know that Dilshan can take the game away from them if he's out in the middle for too long.
Dilshan gets off strike with a run at the start of Watson's over. Thirimanne is tested by an inviting line outside off-stump but the batsman does well not to make any mistakes and waits for a short ball to pull two runs to deep square-leg.
Doherty is into the attack for the first time. Dilshan pushes the spinner's second ball through cover for a single. Thirimanne uses the drift from the bowler to turn the ball behind square on the leg-side for two runs. Sri Lanka find the gaps well throughout Watson's over to collect four singles. Australia's all-rounder has been tight with his bowling but isn't too much of a threat at the moment. Time for a drinks break.

Mitchell Marsh, who Australia have high hopes for, comes into the attack to replace Watson. Thirimanne finds a single at the start of Doherty's over. The spinner delivers a beauty to beat Dilshan on the outside edge. Sri Lanka's opener hasn't been at his fluent best so far today but he manages to get out of the firing line by pushing a run into the off-side. Maxwell comes into the attack to bowl his own brand of off-spin. Thirimanne gets a thick edge on the first delivery of the over to earn a single before Dilshan adds another with a push through cover. Thirimanne reaches FIFTY from 72 balls with an easy single behind point. Impressive innings from the young batsman, who came to the crease under big pressure. Jayawardene plays the latest of cuts through third-man to collect three runs. Thirimanne takes a couple of steps down the pitch to add another to mid-on. Sri Lanka frustrating the Australian bowlers at the moment.
Thirimanne scores a single and gives the strike to Jayawardene, who is restricted to just one run when McKay brilliantly blocks the reverse-sweep. Maxwell is pushed to cover for another by Thirimanne but the bowler responds well with a bit of extra bounce to surprise Jayawardene.
A big shot looks to be coming from Thirimanne but he makes poor contact with the ball and is kept on strike. Doherty turns the ball and strikes the thigh pad but the batsman reacts well to hurry a leg-bye. The spinner varies his length impressively throughout the over and Jayawardene is forced to defend.
Thirimanne takes a single early in the over and Jayawardene displays his growing confidence when he drops to one knee to sweep Maxwell behind square for four runs. Brilliant batting as Jayawardene reverse sweeps the next delivery for another boundary. Two more singles are taken and it's 11 from a very profitable over for Sri Lanka.
A push into the off-side brings Thirimanne a single before Jayawardene chips the next ball over cover for another run. Another run is found to mid-on as Doherty completes a good over again. Good spell from the spinner but Australia need more wickets.
Johnson returns to the attack and begins with two quick yorkers to force Thirimanne into a couple of good defensive shots.

Brilliant from Johnson as he follows two full deliveries with a shorter ball. Thirimanne pulls his shot straight to Watson at short mid-wicket and Bailey's decision to bring back his opening bowler is vindicated.
Mathews is the new batsman and he'll know that his side need to stay strong under pressure. The skipper gets off the mark with a pull to fine-leg for a single. Jayawardene's class is on display as he opens the face of the bat to cut the ball through third-man for four runs. There's a delay in the over when Jayawardene complains about a problem with the sight screen. When it is eventually repaired, Johnson surprises the batsman with some extra bounce.
Bailey is eager to keep the pressure on Sri Lanka and he brings McKay back to partner for a new spell. The seamer is accurate throughout the over and Mathews can only break a spell of five dot balls with a chip just short of Watson at mid-wicket. Two runs are collected but it's a good return for McKay.
Jayawardene takes a single at the start of Johnson's over. Mathews is eager to move around at the crease but he can only add a quick run to point. McKay comes out of the attack after just one over as Faulkner returns to bowl six balls before the powerplay arrives. Jayawardene and Mathews help themselves to a single each before Wade misses with a throw at the stumps as Sri Lanka steal another run. Mathews takes advantage of the new fielding restrictions by stepping back to drill Johnson's second ball of the over through the off-side for four runs. Comical scenes at The Oval. Faulkner turns to the umpire to appeal for anything after delivering a beauty. However, the bowler is then alerted by his teammates that he has hit the stumps and bowled Mathews. Sri Lanka lose their fifth wicket and Dinesh Chandimal comes to the crease.
McKay returns to the attack and immediately delivers a wide down the leg-side. The seamer recovers well, conceding just two singles from the next five balls. However, Jayawardene makes sure that it's a good over for Sri Lanka when he lofts a fuller delivery over extra cover for four.
Faulkner continues to bowl a tight line to restrict both batsmen's freedom at the crease. Sri Lanka manage to find singles easily though but Bailey will be happy with that during the powerplay. A needless throw at the stumps from Faulkner gifts Sri Lanka another single and the bowler ruins a good over when a full toss is steered through point for four by Jayawardene.
Impressive over from McKay, who only concedes three singles from the six balls. Sri Lanka are frustrated in the final over of the powerplay but they now have 10 more overs to put Australia under big pressure.
Doherty returns to bowl his 10th and final over of the innings. Two dot balls are followed by two singles. The spinner finds some turn but he's slightly too short to worry the batsmen. Chandimal adds one more run down the ground. Doherty completes his 10 overs with figures of 1-30.
Chandimal gets off strike early in a new over from Johnson. Jayawardene reaches his 69th HALF-CENTURY by guiding the ball over third man for one run. Important innings from Jayawardene, who has looked as classy as ever. Just five runs in total from Johnson's over.
McKay begins a new spell following a short break and is immediately cut through third-man by Chandimal for one run. Jayawardene chips the ball straight down the ground for another single. Each batsman takes one more single but it's a tidy over from McKay.
Johnson is slightly too wide at the start of the over and Jayawardene cashes in by cutting the ball past gully for four runs. The bowler responds with a slower ball to beat the outside edge. Jayawardene clips the next ball off his pads to pick up four more through fine-leg before rushing a leg-bye when he's struck by a bouncer. Chandimal will keep the strike after guiding the final ball of the over through third-man for one.
Chandimal is more than happy to let Jayawardene dominate the strike at this stage but the latter is almost dismissed when he just sneaks a single. That run is a very important moment in Jayawardene's career as that sees him reach 11,000 ODI career runs. Chandimal gets back to business following a handshake with his partner as he launches a six over long-on. The same batsman adds two more through third-man before getting off strike with a single through cover. Jayawardene adds one more to make it 12 from the over.
Faulkner returns to the attack to bowl the 46th over but the seamer is put under pressure when his first ball is driven over extra cover for four runs by Jayawardene. Chandimal receives the strike when a single is taken and he steps back in his crease to cut the ball through point for another boundary. Australia appeal for caught behind when Jayawardene attempts the switch-hit but the umpire is correct to shake his head. 10 runs from the over.
Chandimal doesn't make great contact with a lofted shot over mid-off but the ball lands in a gap in the field and Sri Lanka pick up two runs.

Chandimal attempts to clear the rope down the ground again but his mistimed shot is hit straight into the air and Hughes is able to take a simple catch. An entertaining cameo comes to an end and the dangerous Nuwan Kulasekara comes to the crease.
Jayawardene hands the strike to Kulasekara with a single. The new batsman collects two runs from each of his first two balls. Johnson responds with a quick bouncer that the batsman ducks. Seven runs and a wicket from the over.
Faulkner is accurate early in the over but Sri Lanka are still able to find three singles. The bowler attempts the in-swinging yorker but he pushes the ball past leg-stump and is punished for a wide.

Kulasekara mistimes a shot down the ground but still tries to sneak a second run. Maxwell's throw is accurate and Wade does well to whip the bails off before the batsman can make his ground. Rangana Herath in next for Sri Lanka.
Herath is beaten on the outside edge by Faulkner but gets off the mar from the final ball of the over with a single. Just two overs left in the innings.
McKay returns to bowl the penultimate over of the innings but begins with a wide down the leg-side. Herath guides a shorter delivery over point for one before Jayawardene adds another single to rotate the strike again. McKay beats Herath with a couple of bouncers but Jayawardene does well to sneak a bye. A late cut splits the two fielders behind square on the off-side and Jayawardene reaches the rope to earn four. One more single is scored and it's nine from the over.

Herath charges down the pitch from the non-striker's end to urge Jayawardene to take a single but the tail-end batsman's optimistic call is rejected and he's left stranded in the middle of the pitch as Marsh throws to Faulkner, who whips the bails off.
This is why Jayawardene needs to be on strike. Sri Lanka's former skipper dances down the pitch to loft the ball over extra cover for four. A push through the covers brings two more. The umpires stop the game to have a word with Jayawardene and Wade, who have been having a bit of a verbal battle for a while. Malinga is forced to rush back to the non-striker's end when Jayawardene mistimes an attempted reverse sweep. A single is then taken to deep cover and an overthrow allows Malinga to sneak two from the final delivery of the innings.
AUSTRAlIA NEED 254 RUNS FOR VICTORY.
That looks a good total on a slow pitch at The Oval. Sri Lanka applied themselves well despite some tight bowling from Australia early in the innings. Jayawardene was fantastic and he ends unbeaten on 84.
If Sri Lanka can successfully defend that total they will qualify for the semi-finals. Australia will need to score 254 runs in 29.1 overs to reach the final four of the competition. If they reach the required total at any point after that, New Zealand will be the team who qualify with England from Group A.

Watson starts the innings confidently as he drives the first ball through the covers for four runs. Eranga responds well and is backed up by some good fielding from Dilshan at point. A push down the ground deflects off Eranga's hand and squeezes into a gap for a single. Hughes almost drags the ball onto his own stumps but enjoys some luck instead as he picks up four to fine-leg. Big blow to Australia's hopes! Watson gets his feet stuck on the crease and the ball hits the stumps via a deflection off the inside edge. The decision to hold Malinga back works.
Maxwell is promoted to number three as Australia continue their difficult chase. Kulasekara delivers a wide down the leg-side before being nudged to mid-off for a single. Hughes makes good contact with a drive but picks out the fielder at cover. Just two runs and a wicket from the over.
Eranga gets the ball to leave Maxwell and beat the outside edge at the start of a new over. The batsman then chips the ball over Malinga at mid-on for two before missing outside off-stump again. There's a big appeal for lbw but the umpire knows the ball would have missed leg-stump and Australia are able to sneak a leg-bye. It's another good over for Sri Lanka.
There's definitely some movement for the bowlers in the early stages of this innings. Maxwell flirts with one outside off-stump at the start of the over but his confidence is on display as he skips down the pitch to drive four through extra cover. Brilliant batting from Australia's number three to hit a six straight over the bowler's head. Kulasekara hits Maxwell on the thigh but the deflection beats Sangakkara behind the stumps and races away for four leg-byes. Much better from Maxwell, 14 runs scored in the over.
Hughes isn't looking like a man in form at the moment but he gets luck again when a thick inside edge travels through fine-leg for four. A late cut brings a single and Maxwell's power is obvious to everyone inside The Oval when he drills the ball through the off-side for another boundary. Voges once again picks up a single early in the over to give the strike to Marsh for the first time. Kulasekara's accuracy is impressive once again as he settles on a straight line. Marsh misses the ball just outside off-stump and despite some interest from Sangakkara, the umpire is correct in thinking there was no edge.
Malinga delivers another wide at the start of a new over before being clipped through leg-stump for a single. Marsh pushes another run into the off-side. Malinga loses his accuracy again and is punished for an above waist-high no-ball.
Australia need 179 more runs to win the match but need to get them in 18.1 overs to qualify for the semi-finals.

Voges nudges a single to long-on to give Wade the strike. Huge appeal for lbw from Sri Lanka but the umpire shakes his head. The review is used but Hawkeye backs up the umpire, with the impact being too close to call. Four from the spinner's over.
Wade skips down the pitch to cut Mathews through the off-side for four. The bowler wants lbw when he hits the pad but the ball clearly pitches outside leg-stump and his appeal is rejected. Wade attempts to heave the ball over mid-wicket and, despite not making great contact, earns four with a thick inside edge. The left-handed batsman misses when he advances down the pitch again but he does survive. Time for a drinks break.
Wade provides a glimmer of hope for Australia but the required run-rate is around 11 an over. Sri Lanka will be targeting top spot in the group at this stage.
Voges continues to look uncomfortable as he nudges a run down the ground, his 11th from 26 balls. Wade stretches to sweep the ball through square-leg for a single. Voges is eager to hand the strike back to his partner and Wade vindicates that decision by launching a huge six straight over Herath's head.
Good decision from Australia to take the batting powerplay at this stage. Mathews reacts by bringing back Malinga for a new spell.
Voges finds a single at the beginning of Malinga's over. Wade's trip down the pitch is met with a slower ball and the batsman must settle for one run. Voges adds another before Wade bravely pulls a bouncer over mid-wicket for four. Wade will keep the strike following another single.
Wade lofts the returning Kulasekara over cover for four at the beginning of the over. The batsman enjoys some luck when a second lofted drive is dropped by Mathews, who did brilliantly just to get his hand on the ball at cover. Wade and Kulasekara collide in the middle of the pitch and the former is able to pick up a single. A few fielders complain to the umpire but Mathews quickly sends his players back to their places. Voges adds another run but he must begin to attack to give his side any chance.
Voges whips Malinga through mid-wicket where Jayawardene fumbles the ball to allow Australia to collect three runs. Both players deal with Malinga well and pick the gaps in the field. However, it's boundaries that Australia need and 10 from the over is still below the required rate at the moment.
WICKET! WADE (31) C DILSHAN B KULASEKARA
Wade goes for the big slog at the start of a new over but he horribly mistimes his shot and Dilshan is able to take a simple catch at long-off. Faulkner in next but Australia's hopes of making the semi-finals have surely gone now.
Voges immediately gives the strike to Faulkner with a single to long-on. Kulasekara fires in a good bouncer to surprise the new batsman. The seamer follows a fierce delivery with a slower ball, which Faulkner pushes away for a single. Voges adds another down the ground. Superb over from Kulasekara.
A thick edge from Voges races to third-man for a run. Malinga delivers a brilliant bouncer but Faulkner does well to deflect the ball to safety. Dilshan fields superbly at backward point to restrict Faulkner to a single a ball later. Malinga somehow misses the off-stump with a superb full delivery. However, the bowler loses his accuracy to concede five wides down the leg-side when Sangakkara is beaten by a wayward delivery.
The batting powerplay has come to an end. Australia scored 37 runs for the loss of one wicket in those five overs.
Herath returns to the attack and is immediately pushed down the ground for two by Faulkner. Voges survives a run out when he just manages to make his ground at the non-striker's end. Faulkner drops to one knee to sweep the ball behind square on the leg-side for four runs. Both batsmen continue to pick the gaps and Australia collect nine from the over.
Australia need 107 more for victory but they must get those runs in 7.1 overs to qualify for the semi-finals.
Mathews returns for a new spell and is immediately pushed for a single by Voges. Faulkner is fooled by one slower delivery but picks the next one perfectly to fire four runs through cover. The all-rounder then scoops the next ball over the fielder at short fine-leg to reach the boundary again. A single gives the strike to Voges, who adds one more run to cover.
Voges miscues his attempted heave over mid-wicket but a leading edge drops just beyond Eranga, who tried to take a fantastic catch at cover. The runs come easily for both players but neither man can reach the rope.
WICKET! FAULKNER (17) C SANGAKKARA B HERATH
Faulkner attempts to clear the rope but he gets an edge on a spinning delivery and Sangakkara takes a brilliant catch behind the stumps. It could all come to an end very quickly for Australia now.
Mathews was clearly unhappy with his last over and he's responded by bringing back Eranga. Voges calls for a tight single to point but Johnson reacts well to complete the run. Johnson gets off the mark with four straight down the ground and that boundary means that England will top Group A.
WICKET! JOHNSON (4) C KULASEKARA B ERANGA
Johnson knew he needed to do the impossible to give Australia a chance but his big shot is mistimed and Kulasekara is able to take the catch on the off-side.
McKay is the new batsman for Australia. England will play South Africa at The Oval on Wednesday due to Australia passing 164.
Herath gives the ball plenty of flight throughout his over and a wide is the only problem that stops the spinner from completing a rare maiden. Australia are heading out of the competition and it looks like New Zealand will miss out on the semi-finals too.
Voges is restricted to a single when his push through cover is stopped by Chandimal. McKay pushes the ball to Dilshan at point but rejects a call for a single. The fielder hits the stumps at the non-striker's end but a replay shows Voges made his ground. McKay eventually gets off the mark with a push through the off-side for one. Just two runs and a wide in the over.
Australia may just target the victory from here as any realistic hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals has now faded. Herath delivers two wides in his over and Australia add six easy singles too.
Voges steps away and pulls Eranga through the leg-side to reach the rope for the first time in his innings. A push down the ground gives the strike to McKay, who can't pick the gaps in the field. Voges had 43 to his name but the pace of his innings was not good enough early on.
Malinga is back into the attack as Sri Lanka look to close out this game. Voges hits the first ball of the over wide of mid-on for four runs. Australia have now passed the amount of deliveries they needed to reach the required total in to qualify for the semi-finals. A flick through square-leg allows Voges to get off strike. Malinga's slower full toss is nudged away for a couple by McKay, who survives the rest of the over.
Both sides take a drinks break. Australia will now be targeting 62 more runs to ensure that they at least win one match in the tournament.
Voges just gets his foot back before Sangakkara can stump him at the start of Herath's over.
WICKET! VOGES (49) C ERANGA B HERATH
Voges is denied his half-century when he lofts the ball straight to Eranga at long-on. Herath takes his second wicket and Sri Lanka need one more to qualify for the semi-finals. Doherty in next.
Doherty gets off the mark with a single and McKay blocks out the remainder of the over. 61 more runs needed for an unlikely Australian victory.
Doherty flirts with a couple of wider deliveries from Malinga early in a new over. Each batsman takes a single before Malinga delivers another wide down the leg-side. Doherty nudges another run through mid-wicket and McKay ends the over by cruising another run on the leg-side.
McKay gets off strike early in Herath's over. Doherty displays a good defensive technique against the spinner before nudging the fifth ball off his pad for a single. Australia reach 200 but they need 54 more to win.
Doherty pushes a single into the off-side to give the strike to McKay, who does well to evade a fierce bouncer from Malinga. McKay wipes the smile of the bowler's face later in the over when he lofts the ball over mid-off for four runs. A yorker is then flicked to fine-leg for a single and McKay will keep the strike.
This final pair continue to frustrate Sri Lanka as they pick the gaps well in the field to combine for six runs early in the over. Mathews leaves deep mid-wicket vacant and McKay accepts the challenge to earn four on the leg-side.
Australia need 38 runs to win and if they can reach 254, New Zealand will qualify for the semi-finals.
Eranga returns to the attack as Sri Lanka continue to search for the final wicket. The seamer is accurate throughout the over but Doherty defends impressively to play out a maiden. Mathews looks set to turn to Dilshan now.
Dilshan finds a good line just outside off-stump to McKay, who shuffles across his crease to nudge a single into the leg-side. Doherty pushes another run through cover. There's a big appeal for lbw from Sri Lanka but McKay did get an edge on the ball and he picks up two more.
Eranga is full throughout the over but when he does stray onto the pads Doherty flicks the ball away for a single. McKay pushes the ball to cover and reacts quickly to hurry another run. Doherty looks in trouble when he takes a run to mid-off but a mistake in the field allows Australia to ease the single.
Doherty defends well before steering Dilshan through cover to get off strike. McKay adds another to move to 28 and equal his ODI best. Dilshan catches the edge but there's no slip in place and Doherty survives.
Kulasekara returns to the attack following his success earlier on. The seamer is tight with his line at the beginning of the over but then gifts an extra to Australia with a wide when a bouncer travels over McKay's head. Just one from the over. Australia need 28 more for victory.
Doherty rocks back in his crease to cut Dilshan away for one before McKay adds another single through square-leg. Mathews has a slip in place for Doherty but when the number 11 edges it this time, the ball races past Jayawardene for two runs.
McKay doesn't look like a number 10 as he easily deals with the threat posed by Kulasekara early in the over. A slower ball is pushed to long-on for a single. Doherty manages to just get his bat in when Mathews hits the stumps from mid-on following a call for a quick run. Two from the over.

SRI LANKA WIN BY 20 RUNS: Dilshan reacts superbly to take a superb one-handed catch off his own bowling when McKay chips the ball into the air and that piece of brilliance means that Sri Lanka have qualified for the semi-finals.
New Zealand will have been watching the drama unfold from their hotel but they now know that they are out of the competition. Australia did their best to give the Kiwis a chance of qualifying but McKay couldn't quite guide his team to victory.
This tournament continues to excite every supporter. At one point it looked like Sri Lanka would cruise to victory but that final wicket partnership certainly worried the supporters of Mathews's side inside The Oval.
