Andrew Hilditch and Greg Chappell lose their jobs as national selectors due to restructuring of Australian cricket.

A review was launched following the nation's 3-1 defeat to England in the Ashes earlier this year.

Cricket Australia has decided to revamp the selection and coaching structure by introducing a new-five man selection panel - which includes a full-time chairman, two part-time selectors, the national captain and head coach.

"It is, to the best of my knowledge, the most exhaustive, comprehensive examination of Australian cricket ever undertaken," said Cricket Australia chairman Jack Clarke.

"We don't want quick fixes. We want to do this properly.

"This report will, I believe, provide a blueprint for cricket structures and systems that will give us the greatest likelihood of success in all forms of the game."

Hilditch has been invited to reapply for a part-time role as work commitments prevent him from taking on the role full-time, while Chappell will continue his role as Cricket Australia's national talent director.

Meanwhile, Australia's current coach Tim Nielsen has not retained his job but has been invited to reapply for the role of head coach.
