Rain forces India vs. Australia abandonment

Australia still lead their one-day international series with India 2-1 after rain forces their latest meeting to be abandoned.

Wet conditions in Ranchi have forced the umpires to abandon the fourth one-day international between India and Australia.

The touring Aussies lost the toss and were put into bat first by the home side.

Skipper George Bailey spearheaded his side's charge, having produced an unbeaten knock of 98 as the visitors recorded a score 295-8 from their permitted 50 overs.

The hosts got off to a positive start and with four overs played they were 27-0. However, the players were then taken off the field because of rain and after a break of over an hour, it was decided that no further play would take place.

As a result, Australia still lead the seven-match series 2-1 with three encounters left to play.
