David Warner returns for Australia, Kevin Pietersen declared fit for third Ashes Test

Australia batsman David Warner is picked for the third Ashes Test at Old Trafford, while Kevin Pietersen is declared fit for England.

Australia have named David Warner in their batting order for the third Ashes Test at Old Trafford, while England batsman Kevin Pietersen has been declared fit for the contest.

Warner, who was recently dropped for punching England's Joe Root in a Birmingham bar, has made his way back into the side by scoring a century for Australia 'A'.

Warner's return is at the expense of Phil Hughes, who has dropped out of the side, while Nathan Lyon has replaced fellow spinner Ashton Agar.

Mitchell Starc completes the changes for Australia, who sit on a 2-0 deficit in the series; he returns to the side due to James Pattinson's injury.

There were doubts over whether Pietersen would play a part in the third Test due to a calf injury, but the South Africa-born batsman has been named in an unchanged side for England.

England: Cook, Root, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Bairstow, Prior, Bresnan, Broad, Swann, Anderson

Australia: Watson, Rogers, Khawaja, Clarke, Smith, Warner, Haddin, Siddle, Starc, Lyon, Harris
