Chennai Super Kings won their Champions League Twenty20 clash with Perth Scorchers by 13 runs this afternoon as they closed the gap on leaders Kolkata Knight Riders to just two points in Group A.
Perth Scorchers won the toss and opted to field and it seemed to pay dividends as they restricted openers Dwayne Smith and Brendan McCullum to just 11 runs each, while Suresh Raina only made one run before being run out.
However, the home side steadied the ship - thanks in no small part to Ravindra Jadeja's 45 not out - and finished on 155-6 after their 20 overs.
Perth Scorchers began in better fashion than their opponents, as openers Adam Voges (27) and Craig Simmons (13) added early runs to the board, but despite Nathan Coulter-Nile's quickfire 30 from 21 balls, they left themselves with too much to do in the closing stages as they fell 13 runs short.
