Former England captain Nasser Hussain has said that James Anderson is the best bowler in the world following his match-winning performance in the first Ashes Test.
The Lancashire paceman took 10 wickets in the game at Trent Bridge, including the match-winning wicket of Brad Haddin, as the Three Lions earned a 14-run victory over Australia to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Hussain wrote in his column in the Daily Mail: "In the end it was the class of England that got them across the line. You just cannot fault Jimmy Anderson for his skills and the way he kept coming back at Australia every time Alastair Cook needed him.
"He is now a phenomenal cricketer. If it is not South Africa's Dale Steyn then Anderson has to be the greatest bowler on the planet right now.
"If the new ball moves he's dangerous, if it doesn't move he's got the wobble seam and if it's reversing, he gets reverse swing. He bowls long spells, stays fit. He is a phenomenal bowler and a phenomenal athlete."
The second Test starts at Lord's on July 18.
