Matt Prior has revealed his eagerness to earn an England recall in time to help the team win back The Ashes next summer.
The Sussex wicketkeeper stepped away from the game after one Test of the series with India due to an Achilles problem, which allowed Jos Buttler to secure his spot in the side across all three formats.
However, Prior is determined to prove his worth when he returns to full fitness as England look to earn payback for the 5-0 loss they suffered in Australia.
"For an England cricketer, it's the pinnacle," the 32-year-old told Sky Sports News. "It's the biggest series and everything is intensified by 10 or 100. There's a lot to look forward to.
"We failed so miserably last time that there is a burning desire in every English cricketer to make up for that very, very poor performance.
"It's a new team; it's a team that has no scars or ghosts from that 5-0 beating. We're on home soil too – that makes a huge difference."
Prior has averaged 40.18 in his 79 Test matches for England.
