England batsman Joe Root has admitted that scoring his first Ashes Test century at Lord's was a "pretty special" feeling.
The 22-year-old made his second Test century on day three of the Three Lions' clash with Australia as he finished on 178 not out.
Root enjoyed an intense battle with bowler Shane Watson throughout the day, but he revealed that his brother, who was carrying drinks for England, provided better taunts.
He told reporters: "That was pretty special. Playing in The Ashes is the pinnacle, so to get a hundred, at Lord's as well, is a great feeling.
"I think Watson was trying hard for his country and I was doing the same. My brother was abusing me when he brought out the drinks — he was probably nastier than Watson!
"He said I was batting slowly and that he would have been smacking it around. But he was nice to me when I got my century."
England finished the day on 333-5, as they lead the Baggy Greens by 566 runs.
