Samit Patel is adamant that England can salvage something from the one-day international series in India.

All-rounder Samit Patel has insisted that England can still win the ongoing one-day international series with India, despite trailing their hosts 2-0 with three matches left to play.

The tourists' latest loss came yesterday afternoon, as India claimed an eight-wicket victory in Delhi.

Rather than licking their wounds, Patel has insisted that the visiting England squad must "stay upbeat".

"It is quite tough really. Going 2-0 down is not the best but we have got to stay upbeat," Patel told Sky Sports News.

"The series is still alive. We have got to go to Mohali and put these two games behind us. We have got to improve and I don't think we are that far away."

The two sides meet for the third time on Thursday.
