England batsman Kevin Pietersen says he is still eager to play one-day internationals for his country, despite speculation over his future in the short-form game.

England batsman Kevin Pietersen says he is still eager to play one-day internationals for his country.

The 31-year-old has been rested for the current series against India amidst questions over his future in the short-form of the game, but he insists that he is keen to play on.

"I've got two Twenty20s versus the West Indies later this month at The Oval and then we leave on October 3 for the one-day series in India. I'd love to play in all six games in India," he told the Mail on Sunday.

"You can never say you won't have an injury or that you're a dead cert for selection, but I'd love to play in every game, of course. I'm planning to play on for another four or five years, which will incorporate another couple of Ashes series."

England's next one-day international against India is at the Rose Bowl, Southampton, on Tuesday.
