Tino Best, Ramdin inspire Windies to 426

West Indian duo Tino Best and Denesh Ramdin frustrate England during day four of the third Test at Edgbaston.

Tino Best and Denesh Ramdin produced a partnership of 143 runs as West Indies frustrated England on day four of the third Test at Edgbaston this afternoon.

England were expected to make light work of the touring Windies, who resumed the day on 280-8.

Those predictions appeared to be correct when Steven Finn claimed the wicket of Ravi Rampaul thanks to a catch from wicketkeeper Matt Prior with just three runs added to the overnight score.

However, with Best and Denesh Ramdin now at the crease, the Windies went about first passing the 300 mark, before going on to reach the 400 point.

In the process Ramdin struck 107 runs not out, while Best made 95 before he was caught by captain Andrew Strauss off the bowling of Graham Onions.

Best's knock set a new world record for the highest score in Test cricket by a number 11 batsman.

England will begin their first innings after the lunch break.
