England have reached 267-2 at stumps on the first day of the second Test match against New Zealand in Wellington.

Nick Compton and Jonathan Trott have both racked up centuries to help the tourists banish memories of a first-innings collapse in Dunedin.

Bruce Martin was the man who made the breakthrough after tea for the Black Caps, as Compton (100) edged his delivery to Ross Taylor shortly after bringing up triple figures.

That brought Kevin Pietersen to the crease and he made 18 off 66 balls.

Trott has displayed his usual composure in building his innings and remains not out on 121 overnight.

Alastair Cook (17) was dismissed early in the innings off the bowling of Neil Wagner.
