Ashley Giles has claimed that he still has the qualities needed to be England head coach.

Peter Moores was appointed the new leader of the side in all formats ahead of Giles, who led England during a disappointing World Twenty20 campaign earlier this year which ended with a shock defeat to the Netherlands, and he admits that he finds it tough to watch his former colleagues.

"It can be difficult to watch what's going on, but I still want England to do well," the former Warwickshire coach told Test Match Special.

"I thought I was a frontrunner, but losing to the Netherlands was the final nail in the coffin.

"I believed and still believe I can do the job, but unfortunately I was not the one to make the decision."

Giles also stepped down as a national selector in April.
