Harry Gurney determined to impress in Sri Lanka

Harry Gurney hopes that his left-arm seam offering England a different option will be valued when it comes to selection for the 50-over World Cup in 2015.

Harry Gurney is looking to use England's one-day international series with Sri Lanka to nail down his place in the squad for next year's 50-over World Cup.

The Nottinghamshire seamer is the only left-armer in the travelling party and hopes that will play to his advantage when it comes to decision time later this year.

"I think I have got a lot to offer. I am the only left-armer involved in this squad," Gurney told Sky Sports News.

"It's been coming out quite well in the nets. In those games hopefully I will offer something a little bit different. When the selectors sit down to make that squad hopefully I get my place."

The first of England's five-match series with Sri Lanka is in Colombo on November 24.
