England assistant coach Richard Halsall believes that team director Andy Flower should take some time off during the hectic 2013 calender.

England team director Andy Flower may be forced to take an extended break from his duties during the 2013 calender, according to head coach Richard Halsall.

Alastair Cook's side complete their tour of India after Christmas and follow that with home and away series against New Zealand.

The ICC Champions Trophy is also scheduled for June of next year before England finish 2013 with back-to-back Ashes series against Australia.

England's senior players are often rested in order to maintain their freshness and Halsall believes the same situation should apply to Flower.

"With the fixtures over the next 18 months it would only be right for Andy to have a break at some stage alongside some senior players," Halsall told BBC Sport.

"I'm sure decisions will be made along the lines of who would be right to come in for possibly a series."

Halsall has previously deputised for Flower, when the Zimbabwean took time off for the one-day internationals against Ireland and Scotland.
