Preview: Getafe vs. Mallorca - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's La Liga clash between Getafe and Mallorca, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Mallorca will be aiming to make it back-to-back wins in Spain's top flight when they continue their campaign with a clash against Getafe in the Spanish capital on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors are currently sixth in the La Liga table, boasting 27 points from their opening 18 matches of the season, while Getafe sit 16th, just one point outside of the relegation zone.

Getafe have a record of three wins, seven draws and seven defeats from their 17 La Liga matches this season, with a total of 16 points leaving them in 16th spot in the table, just one point outside of the relegation zone.

Jose Bordalas's side will enter the clash off the back of a 1-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid, and their lack of goals this season is a real concern, only managing 11 in their 17 games, which is the worst offensive record in the division.

Getafe have only actually conceded 14 times, which is the second-best defensive record, but a lack of cutting edge down the other end of the field is causing them to be involved in a relegation battle at this stage of the campaign.

The Deep Blue Ones have only played outside of Spain's top flight for one season since 2004, so it would be a surprise to see them relegated this term, but three wins from 17 matches is an indication of their struggles.

Getafe have only lost one of their nine home league fixtures this season, drawing five times in the process, while they have conceded just four times in front of their own fans, which is the best home defensive record in La Liga.

Mallorca, meanwhile, will enter this match off the back of a 2-1 success over Girona, with Cyle Larin scoring a brace for the home side after Donny van de Beek had made the breakthrough for the Champions League club.

Jagoba Arrasate's side are having a successful season, boasting a record of eight wins, three draws and seven defeats from their 18 matches to collect 27 points, which has left them in sixth spot in the table.

Mallorca are only six points behind fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao, while they sit level on points with fifth-placed Villarreal, although the Yellow Submarine have a game in hand.

The Pirates finished 15th in Spain's top flight last term and have not been higher than ninth since 2012, when they finished eighth, so there is plenty on the line for the team during the current season.

Mallorca have won two of their last three matches against Getafe, remaining unbeaten in the process, including a 2-1 success in the corresponding match during the 2023-24 campaign.

Team News

Getafe remain without the services of Borja Mayoral due to a muscular problem, while Carles Alena and Omar Alderete are also expected to be unavailable for selection this weekend.

However, there will be a return to the squad for Mauro Arambarri, who was suspended against Atletico, which is likely to lead to Djene Dakonam dropping back into the middle of the defence.

Christantus Uche started on the bench against Atletico, but he is also expected to earn a recall on Saturday, with Abdoulaye Keita likely to be the player to drop out of the starting side here.

As for Mallorca, two players are out of the match through suspension, with Vedat Muriqi sent off against Girona last time out, while Manu Morlanes picked up a milestone yellow card.

Samu Costa and Toni Lato will also miss out through injury, but Antonio Raillo is back from the ban which forced him to miss the narrow success over Girona.

Robert Navarro and Abdon Prats could benefit from the absences of Morlanes and Muriqi to start, while Raillo will return in the middle of the defence for the visitors this weekend.

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Nyom, Dakonam, Duarte, Iglesias; Uche, Santiago, Milla, Arambarri, Coba; Rodriguez

Mallorca possible starting lineup:
Greif; Maffeo, Valjent, Raillo, Mojica; A Sanchez, Darder, Mascarell, Navarro; Larin, Prats

We say: Getafe 0-0 Mallorca

Getafe are so difficult to score against at home, but they find it tough down the other end of the field; it would not be a surprise to see a narrow win either way here, but we just have a feeling that the points will be shared in a goalless draw.
