Peter Moores excited by England improvement ahead of World Cup

Peter Moores believes that England are improving quickly as they prepare for the start of their World Cup campaign.

Peter Moores has claimed that there is every reason to be confident as England continue their preparations for the World Cup.

Despite slipping to an emphatic defeat to Australia in the Tri-series final on Sunday, Moores believes that the performances of some players during the matches against the hosts and India are proof that the squad is heading in the right direction.

"This team's got something about it," the England head coach told reporters. "We're in a much stronger position now than we were when we came to Australia.

"It's an exciting group of players to work with. I watch them play, train, hear them talking, and there's a lot of things in that group that feel right.

"The feeling I get is that we're improving quickly, which is really important because we've got to keep that improvement going through the World Cup.

"To win it we've got to keep getting better the whole way through. We have a group of players here who are very focused - as they should be - and they're gaining some belief."

England start their campaign against Australia in Melbourne next Saturday.
