Eoin Morgan "honoured" to be captain

Eoin Morgan reveals that he is "honoured" to be made England captain for tomorrow's match against Ireland.

Eoin Morgan has revealed that he was "honoured" to be handed the England captaincy for tomorrow's one-day fixture away to Ireland.

The match is the first to take place between the two nations in Dublin, the city of Morgan's birth, and the 24-year-old has revealed he cannot wait to face his homeland.

"It is a huge honour and privilige for me to be in the position I'm in at the moment," he told Sky Sports News.

"Obviously for this game in particular, a couple of guys have been given a rest and I've stepped in. It is a great opportunity to experience another leadership role in the side that I'm very excited about. I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

The two teams last met during this year's World Cup, a match Ireland won, and the new skipper has insisted that his side are wary of the challenge the hosts will provide.

"We've played Ireland three times in recent times and they have all been very competitive games, games that have been very close, so we certainly aren't taking Ireland for granted," he added.

"The side knows what Ireland are capable of and we know that we will have to go out and play very good cricket to go and beat them."

England's squad for the match includes four uncapped players.
