Matt Prior has insisted that he has no problem with being Jos Buttler's backup in the England squad after watching the Lancashire wicketkeeper make his breakthrough in Test cricket.
Poor form and an Achilles problem saw Prior step away from the team following the defeat to India at Lord's last month, but he is hoping that he will be selected to tour the West Indies with his teammates as an understudy to Buttler next April.
"If I've to go as a number two batter-wicketkeeper so be it," the 32-year-old is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I'm more than happy to do that.
"The minute Jos went in the team I'm only ever there to help, and I sent him a message to say if you need anything, but at the moment he is going great guns so I leave him to it, obviously."
Prior will have surgery on his Achilles on September 4.
