Reece Topley reprimanded by ICC

Reece Topley accepts an ICC reprimand after he attacked the stumps in frustration as England lost their first T20 to South Africa.

Reece Topley has accepted a reprimand from the ICC after he attacked the stumps in frustration as England were defeated by South Africa on Friday.

The 21-year-old was at fault as the Proteas snatched victory in the final delivery of the Twenty20 at Newlands, Kyle Abbott claiming the two runs needed to avoid a super over.

Topley was later charged with violating article 2.1.8 of the ICC's player code of conduct, which prohibits "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match".

Following the match, Topley admitted the offence to referee Andy Pycroft, removing the need for a formal hearing.

The rule break comes with a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player's match fee for first-time offenders.
