England's Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad claimed a hat-trick as his side secured 46-run victory during their warm-up encounter against a New Zealand X1 earlier today.
Touring England opened the batting in Whangarei and went on to rack up figures of 186-3 from their permitted 20 overs.
Jos Buttler was their top scorer, hitting 57 runs off just 24 balls. Eoin Morgan also contributed 48 to the total as England posted a competitive score.
Chris Woakes and Jade Dernbach both claimed three wickets as the New Zealand select side began their reply, before skipper Broad removed three tail-enders in successive deliveries to wrap up the win.
The two sides will meet again tomorrow, before the first of three T20 internationals against New Zealand's senior side begin on Saturday.
